Post Purchase Path offers the option to offer customers a discount code good on their next purchase for taking your post purchase survey.
This can be a great way to encourage users to take the survey and generate repeat business.
It is optional to offer users a discount after taking the survey, however.
Managing your discount
There can only be one discount active at a time. If enabled, this discount will be offered to all users who take the survey successfully.
To manage these settings, click the Discount tab.
- Offer user discount after survey: When this box is checked, the discount code is active and will be given to all users who take the survey. You can uncheck this box and click Save to temporarily stop offering the discount code without losing your settings.
- Type: Select what type your discount should be.
- Percentage: Take the same percent off on all orders.
- Fixed amount: Take a flat amount off on every order.
- Free shipping: Removes all shipping costs on all zones.
- Static: Use this option if you have an existing discount code that you want to use for all customers who take the survey. Note that this option will not generate unique discount codes but is a good option if you need to better control your discount at the product or category level. You must have the code shown here created manually on your discounts page or it will not work.
- Discount settings: This area offers additional settings to fine-tune your discount offering.
- Limit number of times this discount can be used in total: Prevent discount sharing by limiting the codes we generate to a set number of uses. Note that the limit applies to each of the unique codes generated, not all codes created by the app.
- Limit to one use per customer: This allows this code to only be used once by the same customer (as determined by email address used to checkout). Unchecking this box can be a good option if you want customers to be able to share the code with friends. Please note that, just like any Shopify discount code with this option, customers can place orders with a separate email address to circumvent the limit. If this setting is checked but the number of times discount can be used in total is also set, then the total use count will be respected (in other words, if the total use is limited to one, this checkbox is duplicative).
- No minimum requirement: The discount code generated will work on any order size.
- Minimum purchase amount: The discount code generated will work only on orders that meet this minimum amount. Be sure to communicate this limitation clearly to customers.
- Minimum quantity of items: The discount code will only work if a customer's cart has this many items or more (inclusive).
- Prefix: Our system can optionally prefix all codes it creates with a unique combination of letters or numbers. This can be useful to help you quickly determine the source of a discount code and also prevent duplicate codes from being created. We recommend using something like "S" for "survey" or "SRVY" here (or your local language's equivalent). You can use letters A-Z (not case sensitive), numerals 0-9 and a hyphen. We recommend keeping this under six characters.
- Display settings: Use these options to control how your discount code is displayed.
- Additional text: Type additional text that should be shown near the discount code when the user completes the survey. This is a good place to indicate any limitations on the discount code.
- Show social share buttons: Check this box if you'd like to let customers share the discount with friends. If activated, be sure that the discount code's limitations are compatible with multiple uses.
Limitations
- At this time, we do not support limiting discount codes to only apply to certain categories or products. If you want to do this, you will need to use the "Static" option and create your discount code manually.
- Discount codes are created automatically each time a user completes the survey unless you use the "Static" option. There is no way to bulk delete or disable these codes, though they can be disabled or deleted manually.
- Expiration dates are not supported on discount codes we generate at this time.
- If you use a prefix on the codes the app generates, we strongly recommend you pick one that is not used by other codes you create manually and that you do not create any discount codes with the same prefix manually.
Once you have completed setting up your discount settings, click Save.
To start over you can click Reset discount settings to defaults but be aware this setting is non-reversible.
